Bath time before bedtime! It’s all about the science.
We all know that there is nothing better than a long soak to soothe body and mind, help the muscles relax, let the skin soften and infuse our bodies with lovely smellies.
And university boffins have also discovered that taking a bath before bedtime can help with sleep – with some very good science to back up their claims.
The key is to take that warm bath (or shower) about one or two hours before you are due to go to bed.
Why does it work? A bath will at first increase your overall core body temperature – and after this your body experiences a sharper decrease in body temperature, thereby telling your body and mind that it’s time to rest resulting in an easier time to drift off to the land of nod.
So, time to dim the lights, run the bath and relax.
