Sleep Tips for Young Children

Getting your children to sleep at night can be a stressful experience. There are certain things you can do to help make it easier for children to fall asleep:

  1. A warm bath before bedtime will help them to relax
  2. Keeping lights dim encourages your child's body to produce the sleep hormone, melatonin
  3. Once they're in bed, encourage your child to read quietly or listen to some relaxing music, or read a story together
  4. You could also suggest your child tries a relaxing breathing exercise before bed
  5. Limit/avoid screen time several hours before bedtime
  6. Stick to a routine by putting children to bed at the same time each night
  7. Keep your child’s bedroom dark and quiet, between 16-20 degrees
